Best album in years!

By far the best Depeche Mode album since Playing the Angel. Not sure why people aren't feeling this? It's a great mixture of dark electronic beats and bluesy rock. There's a few songs that even feel like a throw back to early DM. Going Backwards, Scum, Poison Heart, So Much Love, No More (this is the last time)...all great songs!! People need to open their minds more to this album. Only thing I didn't like at first was how political the opening three songs are, kinda hits ya over the head at first. With so much political opinions coming at you in every direction with social media, I would prefer not to hear it in my music as well. I like music to be an escape from all the political nonsense...but I'll give DM a pass cause I love them so much! Great album guys, can't wait for the concert!!

Well, you can't win them all...

Wow. And not in a good way wow. I love how they always evolve their sound but they are in desperate need of Flood or at least Alan Wilder to produce going forward. Wasn't a fan of Ultra after Alan left the group, but at least that album has soul. Spirit is just Delta Machine 2. Maybe they could have called the album Spirit Machine. I say wait for the remix album for these songs. At least they will have the added touch of modern music producers who can extract their true potential.

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Originally a product of Britain's new romantic movement, Depeche Mode went on to become the quintessential electro pop band of the 1980s. One of the first acts to establish a musical identity based completely around the use of synthesizers, they began their existence as a bouncy dance-pop outfit but gradually developed a darker, more dramatic sound that ultimately positioned them as one of the most successful alternative bands of their era. The roots of Depeche Mode date to 1976, when Basildon,...
