Football player turned Opera Singer

I first heard about Mr. Robinson on a radio show called Soundcheck where he told a story about being a college football player who was given a scholarship. He has performed as an opera singer, most recently for The Met. He has a wonderfully deep bass voice, and his performances on this disc recall the great football singer & scholar Paul Robeson. The best cuts tend to be the ones with the small group, such as "Walk With Me" featuring the incomparable jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut and the superb jazz bassist Reginald Veal. Robert Sadin, who has worked with Wynton Marsalis, did the orchestral arrangements.

Kudos from a non-Christian

I heard about Morris Robinson on NPR's radio show All Things Considered. He has the kind of deep, resonant bass voice that I really wish I had. Regardless of your religious affiliation, or lack thereof, Mr. Robinson's album is WELL worth the price. When he picks up that jazzy mood he could sing the phone book and it would sound great. I'm not a Christian, and even _I_ bought this album. I'm not given to effusive praise, but this album definitely deserves five stars.

A Holy Voice

You'll quickly fall in love with the deep bass voice of Morris. I enjoyed the way he put himself inside of many songs I grew up with as a child and have sung as an adult! Thanks Morris!
