Life Must Be Grand

First off, thank God the album is finally here! Tanya Morgan's Brooklynati held me down whilst this album was still in the works but it's a beautiful thing to see this album come to fruition. I expected nothing less from Che Grand and he certainly delivered with 'Everything's Good Ugly'. Soulful beats, terrific wordplay and a flow that works perfect with any track he gets on. The album starts off w/ Bless'd (feat. Jacob Soul) and sets the tone for the entire album. Che didn't go in trying to impress anyone and with that 'lax mentality, he did just the opposite, impressed everyone! We've heard Gold Chains (Part Duex), Girls Talk (feat. DbM) and R.E.S.T.A.R.T., so no real need to comment on those works, although R.E.S.T.A.R.T. is where Che SHINES with his wordplay. He rode that vicious beat and did it more than justice. Personal favorites include; Gift Wrap (incredible flow & wordplay), Too Much Too Soon (feat. Colin Munroe) which has a great story and a lovely hook provided by Colin Munroe. Prepare for caps: PEOPLE BOWLING (FEAT. TANYA MORGAN) IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST TRACK ON THIS ALBUM. Everyone on this track spazzed! Donwill, Che Grand, Illyas and even the beatmaker, Von Pea went nuts. Props to Von Pea for that beat as well. Another one of my favorites was Crash, just another track where Che spazzed with the lyrics. Other songs worthy of mention; City On Fire, Celebrate We, Life's Grand and lastly... Soraya's Jam which reminds me a lot of Nas' Me & You (off his Street's Disciple album), such a beautiful song. If you want refreshing Hip-Hop music during times that feel like the armageddon, Everything's Good Ugly is a must have album. Pick up Tanya Morgan's Brooklynati while you're at it, because that is a CERTIFIED CLASSIC!

Classic Album In The Making....

Che Grand really set the standard for indie hip-hop releases on this album!!!!

Well worth the wait.

In 2009 there's only three things you can count on death (there's been plenty), taxes, and the Lessondary releasing dope music. Che easily walks back and forth between braggadocio and blunt honesty as he takes the listener through his world. People might look at the cover and expect "hipster rap", but what they'll get instead is just great music. I'm a person who often complains about albums being too long, but by the time the hour of EGU was up.. I found myself starting it over again. Strong recommendation from me, and I can't wait to see what he has coming in the future.
