High-octane experimental guitarist Yonatan Gat—once of the incendiary Israeli trio Monotonix—took his band into the studio during their U.S. tour and recorded this album live with Chris Woodhouse (Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall) in less than three days, with the intention of editing it down to this core of improvisatory ideas. Here, drummer Gal Lazer and bassist Sergio Sayeg are locked in the way that an experienced core develops when playing night after night. They anticipate Gat’s stirrings and complement his playing with a psychedelic jazz–like fluidity. “Gold Rush” has the sound of a hallucinatory desert film. Several brief pieces feel like perfect teases.
