I love how the track starts right away with the main theme with drums in the forefront. Yoshiki retained his signature impeccable drum arrangement, albeit toned down to suit the general audience. I can see this timeless track accompanying movie stars as they walk up the stage to receive their awards. This is followed by a piano solo section, for quiet moments of the evening. Then there are several variations of the theme building up to different counterpoints. I can imagine different parts of the track used in showing movie clips of the nominees. Melody and chord progression are at its finest, hints of Tears and other classic X Japan ballads spice up the track. In short, unmistakably signature Yoshiki composition. Thank you Yoshiki for this treat. It made my morning on jan 15 2013.
Perfect for my Oscars Birthday Party!
When's he gonna score a movie already? Huh? Come on. This stuff is made for the screen.
And yeah, the track retains Yoshiki's combination of synth-cheese and plaintive string see-sawing that you either love or hate. Me? I love it. It's like John Williams got drunk and weepy and never met a major seventh he didn't like. Cheers to that.
