iTunes Review

One of the most adventurous albums in Elton John’s hit-packed catalog, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road takes you on a thrilling musical journey that’s as catchy as is it eclectic. He soars on sing-along pop anthems like “Bennie and the Jets,” gets down-and-dirty on hard-driving rocker “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” and packs ballads like “Candle in the Wind” with heart-wrenching emotion. This is Sir Elton at his most wild and flamboyant, but also his most touching and tender.

Customer Reviews

One of my favorite albums, but...

Fantastic album, one of the all-time greats. But how many times are they going to re-release it? Kind of ridiculous. Think I'll stick with my 1995 "The Classic Years" disc. That was already my third version!

One of the best albums of all time

There is not one bad song on this double-album! It ranks right up there at the top of best rock albums of all time. (although artistically, Tumbleweed Connection is his best work ever).

What artist today could put out a double-album where every single track is of this quality and that will still be played everywhere, and remastered/rereleased 40 years later? Answer: NONE.

This review is not for the album, but for...see below.

Sometimes i can understand why they put certain songs listed as "album only". BUT, it seems that in some cases, and i think in this case, itunes don't want to put long timed songs, like over 9 minutes to sell for 1.29 because it's not benificial to them. Agree or not, HOW ABOUT listing such songs to sell for $ 2.00 or 2.30 or ..... for people who really want just that one song and not the whole album . HOW ABOUT IT ITUNES, COULD YOU GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT, THANKS. P.s. this is a really great album, but already have most of these songs, thanks for listening.

In terms of sales and lasting popularity, Elton John was the biggest pop superstar of the early '70s. Initially marketed as a singer/songwriter, John soon revealed he could craft Beatlesque pop and pound out rockers with equal aplomb. He could dip into soul, disco, and country, as well as classic pop balladry and even progressive rock. His versatility, combined with his effortless melodic skills, dynamic charisma, and flamboyant stage shows, made him the most popular recording artist of the '70s....
