Album Review

By this stage of the game, you'd think just about every country in the world has spawned at least a few notable rock & roll acts that have also managed to break through to other parts of the world. But Hungary was never exactly considered a hotbed of rock excitement. However, the early 21st century saw the emergence of Budapest's favorite sons, the Moog, who offered their debut full-length, 2007's Sold for Tomorrow. And pretty much from the get-go, it becomes apparent that the Strokes must be awfully popular in the Moog's homeland, as Julian Casablancas and co.'s trademark "lazy new wave" style was an obvious influence on the group — especially on such tracks as "Everybody Wants" and "Never Hide!" Interestingly, despite their name, the Moog is not a Rentals or Moog Cookbook type band, that makes slithery retro synths a cornerstone of their sound. No sir. Instead, it's Strokes-like guitar strumming and somewhat disinterested/monochromatic vocals. All bands have to start off being influenced by someone... [The CD was also released with a bonus track.]

Woot

I heard about these guys from the strokes myspace page and liked their music. finally the album is out and i gottta say its pretty sweet. worth the money. woo keep up the good work.

Nice.

You know, i have been finding bands from the U.K. more unique and addictive, and that is why i would recomend The Moog to anyone that enjoys distinctive music. Tonyos voice alone already gets you hooked, now combine it with some rad drum beats and zany guitar strigs, and you have got a hit. The Moog's songs display a lot of feeling and have catchy choruses. "Everybody Wants", "I Like You", "I Dont Want You Now". All genious tracks. One of the best albums I have come across this year. You can't knock it till' you try it, so i recomend to definately try it!

OmG tHeY aRe AwEsOmE!!

they are one of the best bands that i have EVER herd! the song I LIKE YOU is a really good song. i would recomend this band to ANYBODY!

Hungarian quintet the Moog were founded by Tonyo (vocals, keyboards), Gergo (drums, percussion), and Adi (guitar), three childhood friends who bonded over Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and Placebo. After playing covers and writing their own material, the trio members decided to turn their band into a serious effort in 2004 and met their future bassist, Csabi. (Though Csabi didn't know how to play the instrument when he first met the band, his enthusiasm for the group caused him to learn quickly.) With the...
