Album Review

Cannibal Corpse have received a lot of attention and controversy over the years for their song titles alone. But aside from all the over-the-top gross outs of the band's lyrics, the music is really worth checking out. Their relentless combination of neck-snapping death metal beats, sinister detuned guitar riffs, and Cookie Monster vocals is harrowing and fun at the same time, and the execution is better than that of most similar bands. Most impressively, the album remains interesting from front to back, thanks to concise song lengths and a healthy variety of tempos, which alternate from rat-tat-tat machine gun-style onslaughts to chugging mid-tempo mosh sections (check out "Dormant Bodies Bursting" to hear it all in one song). And don't forget about those great song titles; fans won't be disappointed with numbers like "Hatchet to the Head," "Compelled to Lacerate," and the exquisite "Sanded Faceless." This is great stuff. Includes a Metallica cover hidden at the end.

DEATH METAL AT ITS FINEST

this was the album that first turned me on to the Corpse Crew. when i first heard of them, i saw the album covers...well, to someone who hasnt been into death metal before, you can imagine my reaction. especially when i read the lyrics...i was like holy $|-|1t, thats messed up...but for some reason, i kept Hatchet To The Head. after i listened to it a bit, i decided that i really liked these guys, and got some more of their stuff...and the rest is history. personally, i like Corpsegrinder better than Barnes--call me crazy, i just do--and i think that this incredibly heavy album really shows not only his best, but the rest of the bands as well. get their new album KILL if you like this. \m/

BEST. CORPSE. ALBUM. PERIOD.

This is my second attempt at writing a review for this, my favorite of all the Corpse albums, Gore Obsessed. I can't imagine why my original review didn't make it into the books and somehow got screened incorrectly by i-tunes. Could it be all the praise I gave this BRUTAL album? Or maybe it's the derrogatory comments towards the one-and-only other reviewer thus far. Nevertheless, I shall endevour to praise this COMPLETE MASTERPIECE and say once again that this is BAR NONE the BEST CORPSE ALBUM PERIOD. download and support this band for this album alone. They're not Maiden, or Judas Priest, both of whom I have nothing against and have complete respect for. That is, until I listen to this album , then I lose all respect for everything but the brutality and ravage that Corpse brings to the table. WOW WHAT A GREAT ALBUM. My fave track? hmmm.....I'd have to say.....1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11. You see where it says "buy" on your screen???? DO IT!
