Customer Reviews

it's a fair enough reading.

Still it is worlds away from the classic Upshaw/Zinman recording. Here the Atlanta seems not interested in the work and the soloist is competent but does not communicate the text all that well. It's fine if you want another copy of this work and a fan of Gorecki that's fine but if it's your first time getting a recording of this work you'd be best to get the Upshaw version.

bad 30 second samples

What a shame to provide samples of near silence...how can anyone who doesn't know the music appreciate it?! Gorecki's 3rd is exquisite, a must-have for any classical collection. A mournful remembrance of the Holocaust. It's music that touches one's soul. And there is triumph as well. I don't know the Atlanta Symphony's version...and given these poor samples, who would. You'd be smart to check out other recordings. I'm giving this 5 stars for the composition.

Similarly, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus is ranked among the best choirs attached to American orchestras, comparable to...
