A True Gem

What I love about Steven Wilson and what sets him apart from so many other artists putting out music these days is that he makes no compromises. You always know that your in for a quality experience when you sit down and listen to one of his projects. This new solo album is fantastically refined and every song manages to be unique and interesting. He avoids typical song structures and embrace the idea that genre is just a word and not a limitation on creative exploration. It's true that music like this is not for everyone, though it should be. The reason I say that is because now a days people are so used to getting music thats made to appeal to the ipod culture that most people won't take some time out of their busy day to really listen to something this dynamic and that is a crying shame because they are missing out! Kudos to Steven Wilson for doing it again with even more audacity and vigor, I am thoroughly impressed with this record. I sincerely recommend this to anybody who likes good music.

Grace For Yawning.....

Let me start by saying I am a fan of Steven Wilson and of Porcupine Tree. I waited for this album with a great deal of anticipation. This is quality music for sure, its just not for me. Quite frankly I find it boring, and when the pace does pick up on a few of the tracks I find it noisy. This is no disrespect to any of the fans out there who love this album. I think SW is capable of far better than this, and he has demonstrated this with all of the great things he has done with Porcupine Tree and Blackfield.

Instant Masterpiece

This is a well-crafted sonic masterpiece from a modern master.

The aural spectrum is deep and wide on this effort, ranging from quiet, ethereal strings to powerful walls of sound.

This album is one of those that takes numerous listenings to just begin to mentally capture its depth.

Thanks to a prolific work ethic that puts even Damon Albarn's extensive list of side projects to shame, self-taught producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist Steven Wilson has gradually become one of the U.K.'s most critically acclaimed cult artists. Born in Kingston Upon Thames in London in 1967, Wilson was inspired to pursue a career in music after devouring his parents' Pink Floyd and Donna Summer records, and by the age of 12 he had already started to experiment with different guitar and...
