Great Jewish Music

This music made me puke in my mouth! After some certs... I fell in love with it.

I noticed quite a few people recommend this album instead of Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, so I checked it out. This album was for the most part too faithful to the original songs (read: completely unnecessary). Melody Nelson is virtually unchanged. There are only about 4 or 5 tracks I found decent: Anthony Coleman, Eyvind Kang, Blonde Redhead, and Cibo Matto. Medeski, Martin & Wood are interesting here, too. The rest are either boring or completely unlistenable. Shelley Hirsch is awful, and the Ruins track is actually painful to listen to. I recently bought Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, and despite the bad reviews it's received on iTunes, it has much stronger, much more interesting covers, and it won't put you to sleep like this one.

Great covers

I personally like alot of these covers better than the originals. Particularly notable is Mike Patton's fantastic voice for Ford Mustang. 69 anee erotique is a faboulous mix, in my opinion much better than the original, with so much ambient laughter, children's voices, etc. I think it was John Zorn who produced the album, and brought together so much talent I had never heard of. Bravo.
