Like with any other compilation...'re going to disappoint as many people as you'll please. Especially with a band like Dream Theater - a band that doesn't really release singles - all of their fans have their own different highlight lists. With that said, this can serve as an excellent starting point for someone unfamiliar with the band. It has many of their concert staples, and a few bits from their longer compositions (such as Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance and Metropolis pt. 2). They didn't include any of the sections of A Change of Seasons, but most everything else is represented. The reason for a long-time Dream Theater fan to pick this up is the remixes of the Images and Words material. They removed much of the reverb from the tracks and brought some parts to the front of the mix that I hadn't noticed before. Those tracks sound fantastic and are worth downloading individually if you don't purchase the whole CD. There are some edits of some other songs, but they aren't as appealing as the full-length cuts on the original albums. "To Live Forever" is also included, but it's the only B-side on the compilation. I'm giving this only four stars because although it is full of great music from an excellent band, it doesn't have as many incentives for longtime fans as it could. To satisfy the hardcore fans, maybe they'll release a B-side/rarities compilation in the future (or maybe there is one, and I don't know about it).

Perfectly Titled and full of surprises!

Dream Theaters greatest hit cd is alittle different than the norm, but what do they do that ever is normal? The remixed version of the "Images and Words" songs sound amazing! Even the edited version of the tunes are a cool addition. Who needs all the same versions of songs we all already have? This greatest hit cd is a must have for every agressive fan out there!

I started listening to Dream Theater when a friend lent me a cd he had made that had stuff like "This Dying Soul" and "Dark Eternal Night" and "The Glass Prison" on it, and I loved that CD, but THIS CD has opened my eyes to the other side of Dream Theater. They sound a bit like a really good pop-band on some of the shorter tracks, but ALL OF THESE SONGS ARE OUTSTANDING. I love Endless Sacrifice, and Hollow Years is amazing. GO DREAM THEATER. And as for the mislabeling... Oh well, just deal with it u jackasses, u giving this album 1 star makes it look bad, which it certainly isn't!!!

The technically proficient guitar playing of John Petrucci elevated Dream Theater to the upper echelons of contemporary heavy metal. While its lineup has continuously evolved, the Long Island-based quintet has consistently delivered sharp-edged music. Dream Theater is known for its high-energy concert performances. While they've released several live albums — Live at the Marquee, recorded at the London club; Live in Japan, recorded during the...
