Love the Songs ... and the Ones Who Sing Them

It's hard not to be biased when writing about this music because I love these songs so much. But it's also tough because I love some of these people just as much. I've had a few of the teachers on this album and I've also seen them perform live. There were a few surprises. I've never heard Home on the Range by Nora O'Connor sung with such sweetness that it literally brought tears to my eyes! I knew Jacob Sweet could rock and roll, but his rendition of Hard Times is equally moving. Listen carefully to the "percussion" on Scott Besaw's Nine Pound Hammer. Michael Miles' Shine On, Harvest Moon gives this old tune a brand new kick start. Jimmy T and Steve Levitt put an automatic smile on my face no matter what they're singing. Steve Levitt's Midnight Special from Volume One is still my favorite wake up song. So go back and get Volume One, then get Two and Three. Better yet, come down to the Old Town School of Folk Music and join the fun! Then you'll be prepared when Volume Four comes out!
