"Ain't Goin' Down That Big Road By Myself!"

... What a rare find is this recording by two "Folk Music Purists" of the early 1960's! (Bob Dylan feely admits to copping "Baby Let Me Follow You Down" from catching Eric Von Schmidt playing it "In The Green Pastures Of Harvard University!" Rolf Cahn & Eric Von Schmidt seamlessly & soulfully blend elements of Blues & Country; Folk & Spirituals on this most bare-boned duet album! Influences abounding: Leadbelly, Louis Armstrong, Robert Johnson & Bessie Smith! {The year is 1961: in Cambridge, Massachusetts; in places like the old Club 47 (now Passim Coffeehouse!) and the Unicorn; there planted the seeds of so many "Young Folkies": Joan Baez, Tom Paxton, Tom Rush, Judy Collins and a fresh-faced 19 year old who called himself Bob Dylan!} Cahn & Schmidt made beautiful music together and it's a real pleasure to see them rise ; like "Lazarus" once more!...by Grimmbo!
