iTunes Review

To celebrate Elvis Presley’s 75th birthday, this 100-track collection, featuring Elvis’ 30 #1 hit singles, key album tracks, live performances and a few rarities, makes another strong case for the continued importance and relevance of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Presley was an incredibly diverse performer. From the personal recording of “My Happiness” made as a gift for his mother in 1953 through the Sun singles, “That’s All Right,” “Mystery Train,” the early RCA singles, “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Don’t Be Cruel” and the rest of his dominating career (“Are You Lonesome Tonight?,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “In the Ghetto,” “Suspicious Minds,” and “Burning Love”), Presley sang everything with authority. The 100th track of the collection is a 2002 JXL Radio Remix Edit of Presley’s 1968 single “A Little Less Conversation” that was commissioned for Nike’s World Cup ad campaign and became a #1 hit in more than 20 countries worldwide. Presley’s influence and importance continues into the new century. This chronologically arranged collection of highlights is as solid as you’re likely to find.

Customer Reviews

This is a great collection from the beginning to the end of his career. Most of this material has been easily available for many years and on alot of other albums, but there are some more rarely found cuts here and maybe can put some focus on some
tunes that were never released as singles, but may have been as good as some of his biggest hits. Check out lesser known titles like "Paralyzed"(a top ten hit in the UK), Doin The Best I Can" and several others are real gems.

Nothing better than the King!

How can you go wrong with music from one of the best who ever lived!

Spectacular sound quality - what a stellar and unparalleled achievement by Sony!

As an Elvis fan who has purchased Elvis music for well over 30 years this collection stands out from all others because of the pristine sound quality. Word is that Sony went back to the original master tapes and remastered the entire 711 masters released during Elvis' life time from scratch. The results are simply outstanding, it's like being right there in the studio with Elvis. I can't recall having ever been drawn to the music as much as on this set, the sound is fresh and pure and exposes many nuances that have previously gone unnoticed. It's such a pure joy and delight to listen to these masterpieces in the way they were meant to be listened to in the digital format. I think Sony should really be applauded for this great achievement and should follow up this teaser collection with a box set containing all of Elvis' masters in one place as the definitive collection for any Elvis fan. The King deserves nothing less!

Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death...
