Reseña de álbum

The first of three blues albums recorded after a four-year studio hiatus finds Winter as fleet-fingered as before and sounding more vocally involved than in some of the later Columbia material.

Johnny is the blues!

stevie ray doesn't compare to the slide master! johnny is head and shoulders above stevie what're you talking about?!?!?! Excellent album! Ten Stars!!!

Bag of Tricks

I saw Johnny live on this tour and can easily say that this album stands up to his early work on Columbia. There isn't a weak track here. "Iodine in my Coffee" always stood out for guitar while "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" is a beautiful old style ballad. "Don't Take Advantage of Me" kicks my (part of my anatomy that iTunes won't print)! Check the previews and you'll see. Grab what you like but you'll miss out if you don't get the whole album. As for Stevie Ray - I saw him around the same time. Both good. Both Texas but Johnny's got more Chicago in him (hence Alligator). Also, when Stevie Ray was a little boy Johnny was already jamming with Stevie Ray's idol Jimi Hendrix. It's safe to say that Stevie Ray learned a little bit from Johnny.

High Energy Blues

The guitar licks and the power in Johnnys voice in the album grabs your spine and rattles your frame with a furry! This kind of Vibe can only come from the Spirit World. The album entertains you with True High Energy to Slow Soulful Blues... Old School at it's best! I've been to several of his concerts over the years and Johnny has always nailed the audiance to the back wall! I'm blown away every time I listen to this album. Crank it a party or dim the lights and lean back with your Squeeze! Lordy!

That never quite happened, but Winter did survive the high expectations...
