iTunes Editors’ Notes

True to its title, 2003’s Kristyles shows the diversity of KRS-One’s talent. Though the veteran rapper is often accused of adopting a narrow-minded view of hip-hop, this album offers something for everyone. There are in-your-face assaults (“Ya Feel Dat”) and soulful expressions of anguish (“It’s All a Struggle”), not to mention vintage disco jams (“9 Elements”). The smooth and shiny “Ain’t the Same” proves that KRS can even flow like Jay-Z if he chooses. Still, he’s at peak form when either storytelling (“What Else Happened”) or erupting in pure rage (“Gunnen’ Em Down”).

One of the greatest emcees of all time...

How is it that this man can keep pumping out the classics like he was still with Scott LaRoc back in the day? It's because Kris is the truest emcee out. I mean this man is for REAL and with that title comes consistency. Check out 'The Only One', '9 Elements', 'How Bad Do You Want It'... all of them. And hey, how 'bout getting Return Of The Boom Bap on Itunes huh?

KRS-One's Best Album: Song for Song

It amazing how KRS can still pump out Classic albums years into his career. I consider this his best cd because it's his deepest cd yet. "Deep" meaning when you play tracks well into the cd the songs are still very strong. A cd you can listen to straight through without skipping tracks. Classic!!! Check out the songs Ya Feel Dat, It's All A Struggle, and Somebody to name a very few.

KRS-One (born Kris Parker) was the leader of Boogie Down Productions, one of the most influential hardcore hip-hop outfits of the '80s. At the height of his career, roughly 1987-1990, KRS-One was known for his furiously political and socially conscious raps, which is the source of his nickname, "the Teacher." Around the time of 1990's Edutainment, BDP's audience began to slip as many fans thought his raps were becoming preachy. As a reaction, KRS-One began to re-establish his street credibility with...
