iTunes Review

The Shins’ music has always had a Swiss watch-like quality to it: Seamless from the outside, hypnotically intricate when you open it up. Heartworms, their first LP in five years, bridges the electronic textures of 2012’s Port of Morrow with the jangly, cerebral pop of Chutes Too Narrow, touching on psychedelia (“Painting a Hole”), country (“Mildenhall”), and synth-pop (“Cherry Hearts”). It's the band’s most adventurous album yet.

Alt-Pop perfection from James Mercer and company

To our ears, based on these preview tracks from the upcoming 'Heartworms', the album would be more aptly named "Earworms". We got 'em on repeat! 2017 is gonna be a return to the Alt-Pop perfection of James Mercer and company's previous triumphs, such as: "The Rifle's Spiral"; "Phantom Limb"; "Simple Song". For our money, Mercer is a genius song craftsman and frankly, he's America's Paul McCartney! A+

Top o' the pops.

The first two cuts are pop gems al la Chutes Too Narrow. Really clean production. Looking forward to the rest of the record.

i've been in love digging deeper into your albums since port of morrow. I love that you're finally back. and the two singles are fantastic. thank you
