Great Mike !

Wonderful, amazing !!! Great !!!

I've been following Mike Stern's career since 1988.... he is the primary influence on my guitar playing. All his discs had something amazing to offer, and his 'golden' period
for me was the early-mid 90's (Jigsaw/Odds Or Evens/Is What It Is/Standards) and no matter what happens in the world, the one thing I could count on was a great Mike Stern disc every time! But somewhere in recent years, I felt that his writing had gotten a bit stale on him. Now, that's not saying his new millenial output hasn't been fantastic, but I would say it just didn't capture the essence of his overall compositional strengths, and I personally thought his teaming up with Steve Vai and Eric Johnson on 'Big Neighborhood' was a bit... well, untrue. Now he returns with 'All Over The Place' and although the title suggests that this record would be a bit 'unfocused', I will say that this is Stern returning to all his glory. The tunes sound inspired, fresh and brimming full of life and the supporting cast is nothing less than stellar (personally, I think Richard Bona is a god-send for Stern's compositions). Each track has something new to offer and though the sound is quite familiar, there is something to be said about an artisit who can STILL deliver 25 years later and continue to inspire and uplift with his playing. As sure as the sun will rise, Mike Stern will always give us something to smile about. Well done sir. Well done!!!
