Reseña de álbum

Another fine album. "Song for Ireland" is a classic. Features Brian McNeill, Phil Cunningham, and Stewart Isbister. Voted Album of the Decade of the '80s by Folk Roots magazine, A Handful of Earth is Gaughan's best blend of traditional and contemporary songs. ~ Chip Renner & Stephen Winick, Rovi

Handful of Earth

I'm Irish but this album is the only Irish related music I can listen to all the time. It is simply heartfelt, straightforward lyrics that make it work. He is as soulful as Van Morrison and as eclectic as Nick Drake but different than both. I recommend the album.

an enduring gem

One of the great classics of Scottish folk, never long out of the playlist since first hearing it on the radio in 1984. Very spare production, mostly Gaughan's elegant fingerstyle guitar and expressive vocals, with a little help on a track or two from (if memory serves) Brian McNeill on fiddle and Phil Cunningham on whistle. Runs the gamut from Leon Rosselson's barnburner "The World Turned Upside Down" to the absolute most brilliant version of Robert Burns' "Now Westlin Winds" ever.

Quintessential Celtic Music

This is a brilliant album. Every track is amazing in it's own right which is why just about every one has been covered by other musicians.
