Album Review

Donald Lawrence begins right at the beginning on Law of Confession, as "The Word of the Lord" employs the opening line of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, "In the beginning was the word." From there, accompanied by his fervent choir, he addresses the needs and faith of a congregation with which he seems to be entirely in synch. The music ranges from traditional gospel to ‘60s and ‘70s soul and R&B (the ballad "Happy Being Me" sounds so much like a Stevie Wonder track it even has a characteristic Wonder-like chromatic harmonica part) as Lawrence anticipates the gospel slogans of the choir, either speaking or singing in a gruff voice. His message is timely. In "Word of My Power," he promises not only health, but also wealth, specifically, "debt cancellation." "Stop worrying about the economy," he tells his listeners, "the blessing is on you." Indeed, in the concluding "There Is a King in You," he preaches self-esteem and empowerment to his troubled congregation. "You come from royalty," he declares, which ought to help them with both their spiritual and economic concerns in 2009.

don't hate on donald's best work to date

this is donald best cd to date. to say its about one's self or that Jesus is not in it, is ridiculous. there's no way u could've listened to this cd. if u read the Bible John 1:1 says the word was with God and the Word was God. So when you're confessing(speaking and declaring) God's word, you're talking about God himself because he is his word. the songs are written directly from the word of God. much luv dlawrence this cd will take the body of Christ to new levels in God!

Good Music, But Where Is Jesus?

He is the author and Finisher of our faith. I love Gospel, Praise & Worship, CCM, etc. but JESUS must be the center of it all, NOT SELF! It's great to be blessed by God, but it requires more than "Confession", for we are called to live HOLY and JUST before a Holy and Just God. I'm tired of Christianity sounding like the New Age movement, it's not about US and SELF, it's about God and His Son who was sent to die for our sins. Donald Lawrence, stop filling peoples heads up with the gospel of ME, MYSELF and I....Preach the GOSPEL of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. God bless you all...MARANATHA!

Spirituality meets Law of Attraction meets God to Help Us Live Our Best Lives

The album is bathed in anointing. Not the type you get from going to Church blindly every Sunday because that’s how you were taught, but rather the type of anointing you get from building a spiritual relationship with God. It’s built upon a developed and personal relationship with God. Too many people get hung up on “downtrodden worship” – praising God to bring you through rather than an honest gratitude to God for the past, the present, and the future that you can speak into existence. While you’re in this mode of “praising through” the present, you’re not giving the energy you need to seeing yourself in the future and worshipping God for that gift. This album focuses heavenly on the words we say and the thoughts we think because they are creating our future. And finally with this latest release (as I also look back on his work over the past few years), I understand where Donald is coming from and what he’s been trying to convey all these years. He’s trying to help us all understand that our relationship with God isn’t built on Church, denomination, and tradition. Instead, it’s about aligning our thoughts with God, and from there, our actions and words will have more power than we can imagine. Look at the song titles: - The Word of the Lord - The Law of Confession - The Blessing is on You - The Blessing of Abraham - Let the Word do the Work - There is a King in You Donald is trying school us on the power of word and thoughts and the power that God has given each of us to achieve the best life we can on this earth. It’s not “new age” or “God-less” worship. The words and music from this album are so powerful, they can only be from God.
