iTunes Review

On his debut album, comedian Aziz Ansari plays the goofy, frequently belligerent metrosexual. He threatens grievous bodily harm over exaggerated bedsheet thread counts, obsesses over his tuna-juice-swilling roommate, and bemoans Cold Stone Creamery as "the epitome of American excess.” But more than the absurdity of his observations, or the unexpected twists in his hilarious narratives, Ansari's secret weapon is his voice, which dips and then rises to an ALL CAPS blast as he approaches his punchlines.

Have been waiting...

for an Aziz ansari album for a while now. I've seen him in a plethora of different things and he's always been hilarious, I was shocked to find out that he didn't have an album out up untill now. He recycles a lot of jokes from leno interviews and stuff, but overall the album is wickedly funny, and definitely worth getting if you're a comedy fan. He's an up and coming comic, and is someone to keep an eye out for.

Botched by Dane Cook Style Delivery

Ansari needs more confidence in his delivery. All the material on this album is funny, I'd expect no less from a member of Human Giant, but the execution is lackluster.

It's the Dane Cook delivery style, with hyper active sentences that end in overemphasis. He always yells the punchline to make sure the audience notices. This works well for Cook since he doesn't really understand how to end a joke, but it's superfluous for Aziz.

Maybe it's because he's spent more time on his acting and writing, but the album just feels unpolished. He needs more faith in his material and in his audience.

And on a minor note, telling stories about time spent hanging out with celebrities is obnoxious, even when you try to play it off like you're not bragging.

hilarious, real, totally worth it

Aziz is a great and hilarious story teller. He's completely real, down on a normal level, and says things that everybody is thinking. His delivery is great and this album is a testament to the kind of generally awesome guy he is.

The professional reputation of some actors and performers is inextricable from that of the larger ensemble to which they belong. Comedian/actor/screenwriter Aziz Ansari epitomizes this idea. Ansari shot to fame in the mid- to late 2000s as a member of the three-person comedy troupe responsible for The Human Giant -- a weekly, SNL-style collection of outrageous and irreverent comedy sketches that the group wrote and performed on MTV. Ansari is -- like Jay Chandrasekhar and a few other comics to emerge...
