iTunes Review

In 1998, the hip-hop world rumbled when this album dropped. Jay-Z’s aggressive R&B takeover is at its most highly pronounced on "Can I Get a...," "Money Cash Hoes," and "Money Ain't a Thang." Then there's the verbal dexterity and brash cleverness of "Nigga Who, Nigga What" and the title track (which samples from the musical Annie musical).

Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life

this is probably j's 4th best album, not including the unplugged. Its got a good combo of songs with good flow and songs with just sick rhymes. Reasonable doubt, the bluebrint, and the black album wer all better, but this is a quality album and its just jay doing his thing. "yo she loved my neclace / started relaxin' / now thats what th **** i call a chain reaction." big up to jay, hes the best rapper alive. key tracks: hard knock life, can i get a..., money aint a thang

this album is fire. Jay-Z really outdid himself on this one. Hard Knock Life is my second favorite song of his, next to H.O.V.A. off the blueprint. All the songs on this cd are great. This is when Jigga was really in his prime. If you like great rap from one the greatest rappers alive you should look at his other cds.

Embodying the rags-to-riches rap dream, Jay-Z pulled himself up by his bootstraps as a youth to eventually become the reigning rapper of New York City and, in turn, a major-label executive following his short-lived retirement from music-making. In the wake of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z's albums sold millions upon millions with each release, and his endless parade of hits made him omnipresent on urban radio and video television.
