Led by singer/songwriter Trevor Beld-Jimenez, whose old-school values of straightforward songwriting mean he isn’t afraid to put his heart on his sleeve, Tall Tales & The Silver Linings are everything that’s right about looking back to the ‘70s without stifling modern touches. “Something to Believe In” and “Unknown Forces” are so darn pleasant and infectious that you can’t help being charmed. Comparisons to Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, and Tom Petty are credible but nowhere near the full story. Elements of Badfinger, Bread, Peter Frampton, and The Eagles also lurk—a natural outburst from a songwriter who grew up internalizing these influences.
