Alex Metric is THE MAN

Alex Metric seems to be one of the few electronic artists that realizes people get tired of the same riff over and over. No matter how good that riff is, you can not repeat it for 7 minutes and come out with a good song (*cough* Human After All *cough*). I was astonished by the raw power behind these tracks and checked out all of Alex M.'s other songs- AND BOUGHT A WHOLE MESS OF 'EM. This music is great in every way. I'll agree that the title track here seems a bit too lighthearted for him, more of a fad in music right now, but that doesn't stop it from being a downright great song. "Shirley" manages to be reminescent of both an epic action movie and a dance club at the same time. That's pretty impressive. "What Now" is a bass-riddled assault on your eardrums that will leave you breathless and begging for MOAR!!!! That track in particular seems like the lovechild of Data and Kavinsky (Two of my favorite artists). It's about time Alex Metric released a full album, all these EPs are great but I would love a full LP from Mr. Metric. He always switches up the beat just as it's about to get annoying, and keeps everything fresh. These tracks deliver crisp, clear, and tasty melodies. Five stars!

Alex Metric is god incarnate

I don't see the point of the shorter radio edit, so I just bought the 3 (isn't 4:25 short enough?). Anyway, when I first heard his Splittr remix, I creamed. "What Now" has taken things to a new level. There is no human that can produce such sonic perfection, crafted specifically for my brain. Therefore, he is not a human, but a electro god sent by the forest to please my brain. Thank you Alex! These are another 3 excellent tracks. What do you want people? Don't tell Metric to be anything. If you don't like his music, praise someone elses. I mean, really, why write a comment saying you don't like someone's music!? I think he is plenty fresh. He makes my brain vomit seratonin. "What now" is superb. One minute we are in the world of Capcom's Contra, then at a disco. We never know where he will take us.

see him live if you get the chance

Genre: Dance

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Alex Metric is a London-based DJ and producer who made his name through his own productions as well as numerous remixes, ranging from breaks and electro-house to the more club-friendly side of indie rock and pop. Equally influenced by classic techno and house as well as disco and funk, his tracks often have a choppy, distorted edge similar to artists on Ed Banger, but he's progressively created more pop-leaning dance anthems, in addition to remixing major acts like U2 and Depeche Mode.
