Press for Midwest Avengers and This Album

" [Midwest Avengers prove] live hip-hop need not rely purely on soft-touch soul music to be successful."--Christian Schaeffer, Riverfront Times (Village Voice Media affiliate)

" their best, Midwest Avengers create the best marriage between Hip-Hop and Heavy Rock since Body Count."--Wiley, Wiley's World (music blog)

perfect fusion of rock and hiphop

Some people are so busy fussing about whether hip hop is dead and lamenting the current state of music that they are sleeping on one of the best fusions of rock and hip hop. Midwest Avengers' "Headbanger HipHip" represents a progressive move towards music not stifled by one particular genre or formula and succeeds in delivering a package with something enticing to every music lover.

The album opens with the make you bounce title track "Headbanger Hip Hop" before launching into "Got.That.Thang" which juxtaposes a cautionary tale of a shady female against more head nodding vibes. "Stalker" provides more than just a scenario with which many can identify, but a fly chorus that'll have you singing along and throbbing to the guitar riffs. "Infected", which is one of the heaviest rock influenced songs on the album, is guaranteed to get you hype for the "Anthem" which will have you pumping your fist to represent the Midwest Avengers, a real band rocking music that leaves you feeling good, ready to party, and pleased that true artists still exist.

"CreepShow II" is an impressive upgrade from the version on their last album (Evil Superheros). "Cold World" and "Sometimes" acknowledge the drama that we all face in life-- wouldn't it be awesome if real life drama sounded this good? Fortunately, there's still more good music with "Lil.Bit" and "Body.Rock" the laid back/chill tracks of the album before moving on to the energetic tracks "N.E.W.S" and "Savage Breed."

"She's Gone", the album closer, is not a sad love lost song. What begins as something a bit mournful, gently swings towards sweet acceptance that everything's going be okay after all. And the same can be said for the state of music-- thanks to the Midwest Avengers' "Headbanger HipHop."

Wonderful to Listen to!

Often, artists who are interesting and fun to watch at a live show do not have the same feeling as you listen to the recorded version. The Midwest Avengers (MWA) are an incredibly dynamic stage presence, and command the same attention on the album. This music does provide a great deal of entertainment, but is not chauvinistic and demeaning to women.
As the album title suggests, the music is a mixture of heavier rock music and hip-hop 'singing.'
