iTunes Editors’ Notes

The accidental formation of this superstar line-up in the late ‘80s made things casual enough that no one jockeyed for better position and a sense of fun prevailed throughout. George Harrison had been looking to record a B-side when his famous friends Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty showed up and ended up recording an entire debut album. That first album, Volume One, contains an infectious energy of solid camaraderie as the band performs folk-rock, Beatlesque pop and rockabilly with easy authority (“Handle With Care,” “End of the Line”) and a tad too much late ‘80s production (courtesy of Lynne). Dylan’s “Tweeter and the Monkey Man” and Orbison’s “Not Alone Any More” remain the riveting standouts. Orbison sadly passed before the follow-up Volume Three was recorded and the album suffered some in his absence. The Traveling Wilburys Collection includes the original and bonus tracks from both albums, plus a Traveling Wilburys documentary and five additional videos.

-=- Roy, Bob, Tom, Jeff, and George -=-

Some of the biggest names in rock history came together to record one song, Handle With Care and they liked it so much they made an album. This is a set that includes both Wilburys releases. The songs are fantastic, upbeat, and better than any of the garbage that is released today. I really can't believe that it has almost been 20 years since these songs first saw the light of day. The Wilburys include Tom Petty (Heartbreakers), Jeff Lynne (ELO), Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, and a rather unknown named George Harrison (The Beatles). I remember these songs when they were first released. I was able to buy the original CDs each cost about the same it would cost to download these songs here. It is a good value. If there was a rating of 6 stars, I would give it 6 stars. This set also includes songs that were not released originally.

amazing album, amazing songs, amazing artists. seriously a classic

Finding this just made my day !!!

This is a fantastic collection of music that brings together five great musicians who made there mark long before they ever got together as The Traveling Wilburys. I haven't been able to find any of there three albums anywhere, and I've been looking for years. The videos are priceless now that George and Roy are no longer with us. Jeff Lynne is all time, and he's probably the least known, which is saying something since he was the creative genius behind ELO. I'm thrilled to have found this today !

Reversing the usual process by which groups break up and give way to solo careers, the Traveling Wilburys are a group made up of solo stars. The group was organized by former Beatle George Harrison, former Electric Light Orchestra leader Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison, thus representing three generations of rock stars. In 1988, the five (who had known each other for years) came together to record a Harrison B-side single and ended up writing and recording an album on which they...
