Album Review

The U.S. debut solo album by Frou Frou vocalist Imogen Heap is a captivating record that fuses innovative electronic soundscapes with a strong female voice. If "Goodnight and Go" — a lilting, pulsating, and hit-ready concoction — and the alluring, synthesized pop of "Hide and Seek" are the most direct numbers, experimental numbers like the ethereal "Have You Got It in You?" plus the rhythm-fueled "Headlock" and "Loose Ends" suggest Heap has written and produced the finest electro/alt rock CD of 2005. By the time the eclectic, innovative "Closing In" arrives late in the cycle of Speak for Yourself, there's little denying it.~ John D. Luerssen, Rovi

It saddens me to see that people who have only heard of Imogen because of that Jason Derulo bozo who stole her song come on here and bash her. At least she can sing without autotune.

see all those 5-star ratings?! TAKE THAT, JASON DERULO!

hide and seek is a bajillion times better than whatcha say, now jason just shut up and stop being famous beccause you dont deserve it.

The Perfect Song

I love music, from Tegan and Sara to the Arcade Fire to Vanessa Cartlon, but this woman has crafted a song so perfect, flawless, and full of sutch depth that I've NEVER become sick of it, ever. 'Hide and Seek', marred by one h-word (for those of you who are young or unable to fast-forward) and nothing else, this song is perfection, powerful, and peaceful. Imogen Heap has talent and as I await 'the Hideaway' I am still gripped by this song. Everyone I know has heard it and has loved it. You will too, if you don't then maybe you need to get into a headlock.....

As a rule, group efforts are normally launched before a solo career — not after a solo career is in full swing. First, the artist makes a name for himself/herself as part of a group, then the artist leaves the group to become a full-time solo performer. That's the standard procedure, but British singer/songwriter Imogen Heap took a different approach, having already established her solo credentials for several years before becoming half of the London-based duo Frou Frou. Although based in London,...
