iTunes Review

The L.A. indie-rock outfit return, refreshed. Heads Up finds the foursome melding their gauzy post-punk with elements of modern R&B, pop, and dance music for a set that shimmers and throbs. “You come along and wash away the rain,” they sing on “New Song,” their finest to date. “You are the sun that leads me back to where I belong.”

Definitely their best

I think this is their most consistent and most enjoyable album experience to date. You need it in your music collection!

Not really as promised...

I've been a Warpaint fan for years; they are an amazingly talented group of muscians and thier live show is fantastic. I've always liked thier up-tempo songs better, and was excited to hear them talk about the new record as going in that direction. Unfortuntely they didn't follow through. "New Song" is great, but other then a few other moments the record lulls and decelerates into a sleepy mix that charactarizes much of their work. I'm still a fan and I'm looking forward to seeing them on tour, but this was a little dissapointing given how they pitched it in thier pre-release interviews.

Sossamon left due to conflicts with her acting schedule and was replaced by Stella Mozgawa. With a dedicated lineup, the band began to experiment with murky spaciousness and stripped-down arrangements, and gained the attention of former Red Hot Chili Peppers...
