OK...just ok

This band was good back in the 80's. They had a good following in Europe but got pretty much no airplay in the US. They broke up several years ago so Im surprised a live album released in 2005. Carol Decker was a better singer 15 years ago. Now she sounds like almost any bar room singer.

Lessons in Pop Music 1

T'PAU... China In Your Hand. A huge hit in Europe, they had follow up minor hits, but never recaptured the "perfect pop single" that was China.. The lesson. NEVER EVER release an album that doesn't include the radio "edit" of your obvious single. The album version of China In Your Hand, was dreadful... the production of the single was PERFECT in every way. On the strength of the one song, their album went #1 in England. Heart and Soul was a far better album track, but the public was duped and wouldn't be bothered again, it was a hit, but a serious step down from the first single. Their careers went the way of that broken, crumbled china that fell from their hands. Everything 80's was a trend in England a couple years ago, everyone from Gary Numan (huge in the UK, one hit wonder in the US) to Toyah made comebacks; T'pau may have out lived their disgruntled initial audience. The single version of China In Your Hand still stands as one of the most perfect pop songs of all time.

Quickly signed to Virgin's Siren subsidiary, the group released their debut single, "Heart and Soul," in early 1987 with little fanfare. After the song was used...
