EDITORS’ NOTES

With this debut EP and its orchestral bruiser of an opening title track, I Prevail made a slamming entry into the world of metalcore. Aided by buzzing synths, as heard on the driving “Love, Lust, and Liars,” the band takes dramatic melodies and smashes them up against walls of distortion and hammering drums. The stop-start chug of “The Enemy” is an overdriven guitar assault, while the lush acoustic strum of “My Heart I Surrender” shows that the band can access a softer side.
