Album Review

On his third album, Heartworn Tragedy, Bart Crow continues to play twangy country-rock with his band and to sing in a voice that strongly recalls Steve Earle. The sound is early Steve Earle, that is, the Steve Earle of Guitar Town. As a songwriter, however, Crow isn't in Earle's league. He reveals a familiar persona, a guy with lots of woman troubles, mostly because he seems to travel from town to town, but also because he has a sort of "can't live with ‘em, can't live without ‘em" viewpoint. While a song like "Shadow Dancer" is full of praise for a particular love interest, more often Crow is "Saying Goodbye," for one reason or another. Such may be the fate of the itinerant musician, and if Crow isn't playing or singing anything new or in any new manner, he at least is well versed in the tradition, making him and his band a good bet at the local honky tonk, even if the songs suggest it might not be a good idea to try to go backstage and meet him personally.

Very good!

Best yet from BCB! Buy it now.

Another great album by Bart Crow Band

These guys play and write some great red dirt music. The album is good all the way through. If you don't have a Bart Crow Band album yet I suggest you get all three, you won't regret it. And if you get a chance to see a show, then you better go. Already looking forward to their next album but these three will get me by until it comes out.

It's a good cd but.....

It's a good cd but I wish there was a acoustic version of Traded it all for love like the one on u-tube.

Since debuting in 2005, roots rock singer/songwriter Bart Crow and his band have practically worn grooves in the Southern and Midwestern highways from years of non-stop touring. A native of Maypearl, Texas, Crow played a bit of guitar in high school, learning some country and classic rock tunes, but it wasn't until after a stint in the U.S. Army that his songwriting sensibilities began to take shape. Following a move to Austin, he put together the Bart Crow Band, whose independently released debut,...
