Talking Heads at Their Best

I've listened to this album practically since birth (my dad is a huge Talking Heads fan), so I think it's really the only way to hear these songs. Studio versions pale in comparison, so spend the extra money!

Stop Making Sense

I remember being at this concert when the Stop Making Sense tour hit Vancouver and of all the 100's of shows I've seen in 53 years of life, this was the most memorable. Memorable for the exquisite sound mixing which allowed a sold out hockey arena to focus on one member of the Talking Heads ensemble and be able to actually hear that single musician's craft. At the height of the show there were as many as 15 people onstage, 6 or 7 of them percussionists alone, and still I could look at anyone onstage and hear their contribution to the song. This fidelity and clarity has been reproduced in this album and anyone who loves the Talking Heads needs this particular recording in their library. No Talking Heads collection is complete without it. Period.

Warning - NOT the original album!

If you're like me and you absolutely fell in love with this album back in the 80's be careful - this is the "Special New Edition"! Not the original that you fell in love with. I'm not sure what precisely was done to the album but several of the songs (esp. Psycho Killer) are not at all how you remember them from the original version of this album in the 80's.
You may think its better, you may think its worse, you may not notice, but please listen first!

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s

At the start of their career, Talking Heads were all nervous energy, detached emotion, and subdued minimalism. When they released their last album about 12 years later, the band had recorded everything from art-funk to polyrhythmic worldbeat explorations and simple, melodic guitar pop. Between their first album in 1977 and their last in 1988, Talking Heads became one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s, while managing to earn several pop hits. While some of their music can...
