Album Review

Do huge, all-star posses like Army of the Pharaohs release two great albums in one year because there are so many members to choose from? Or is this crew just awesome? That's something to ponder as Heavy Lies the Crown lands as King Don Vinnie Paz's second AotP release of 2014, and with highlights like "War Machine," "Terrorstorm," and "The Tempter and the Bible Black," the "awesome" argument gets some serious supportive evidence. Everyone is here from last time out, save King Magnetic, who must be regretting that decision something fierce.

Worst AOTP Ever!

I've been a fan of the Jedi mind tricks an army of the pharaohs for a very long time, indeed since the launch of their first EP back in '88. This album was far too busy, contrived, and frankly, cacophonous. I am deeply crestfallen by this butchered release, And I long for the days when the enemy of mankind still was at the helm. For shame

Too busy, too much background noise, too complex, too irregular…. Ive been an AOTP fan for a very long time and this album really let me down.

Paz formed the horrorcore outfit in the late '90s with the original roster of Bahamadia, Chief Kamachi, Virtuoso, 7L & Esoteric, plus Jedi Mind Tricks' other members Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind and Jus Allah. The group first released the "Five Perfect Exertions" b/w "War Ensemble" 12" on Paz's short-lived Superegular Recordings in 1998,...
