On Repeat

I thought that "Chesapeake" (2011) was Rachael Yamagata's most lyrical record, but "Heavyweight" truly trumps that. A break-up album, I believe, "Heavyweight" is heavy (pun intended) on raw emotion, sparse yet piercing lyrics, and the musical composition is just plain genius: intense like a wave of emotion, then gliding into an ambient sound that lingers and lingers. I've been playing this album on repeat for a week now (pre-ordered), and I would suggest to purchase the physical album--the artwork, colors, and even the font complement RY's songs and voice...it's quite eery! In an amazingly good way, of course.

Solid EP and Sultry Sounds!

Rachael returns back to her sultry sounds that we all fell in love with on her "Happenstance" album. All the songs are heartfelt and spot on. This album is going on repeat.
