Reseñas de usuarios

One of the best ambient albums of all time. Period.

The level of beauty and invention created by Maju's team of Hosomi/Narita (& often other company) is astounding. They're almost always working on something and it's always brilliant. Maju3 is no exception. The album's opener "Resonance of Forms", which sounds like the perfect soundtrack to watching the late-night, city skyline from the top floor of a lonely skyscraper, is a sleepier example of the duo's work, but serves as a great launching point for the tone of the album; deeply gritty and dense, but also graceful with a gentle, wise spirit. Similar work can be found in the BladeRunner-esque "Uncarved" and the albums two twin closing tracks, "Distortion" & "Achromatic", but that's not all there is to offer here. The Narita-lead "Helix" shows the groups love of crackling, yet complex sound-design. "Distortion" is the sibling of Neina's 2000 masterpiece "Dolphin Park Therapy", with its rolling loops and subtle grain, but it stands on its own without even a reminder of the Neina (also a Hosomi project) piece. "Chabashira" may be the only beat-driven song on the album, but it's also soft and delicate. This is one of my favorite tracks of all time. The iTunes preview doesn't contain the main melody, which starts at around 3 minutes, but it is one of the most beautiful ever written and brings me to the verge of tears just about every time I hear it. To me, this song is perfect. Other standouts are "Chain", "Acasual Links" & the enigmatic "Velocity", but all the tracks are brilliant and stand on their own swimmingly. If you like this album I can also recommend trying to find their "Virtual Drug" soundtrack, which is in the same vein and absolutely worth the trouble of tracking down. If you know of the group (or one of their many side-projects), like ambient or innovative electronic music or just want to hear one of the most stunning and beautiful albums ever created, buy it. I can't imagine anyone being even slightly dissapointed by doing so.
