betties RULE

the betties rock and dont let anyone tell ya otherwise. go to the site, go to the gigs section, and check them out live this fall in your town. i wish iTunes had more to offer of their one sounds like them and they deserve to be a "HIT" over here in the usa. i guess with all the crap out and on the radio, there is no more room left for anything REAL or GOOD. BETTIES RULE!!!!!!!

Great Cover of Hallelujah!!

Cohen and Buckley would both approve. Intelligence, raw emotion, and an awareness of where the song is coming from. Not many artists nowadays could do this song with "Grace." Get this and decide if you want the rest. Ranking tracks I'd say 1. Hallelujah 2.You've changed (slowed acoustic shades of Pretenders) 3. Hell=Other People (like recent Pierces music, subtle harmony, overlapping melodies, intelligent lyrics) 4. The Rope (more indie style, not as complex lyrically or otherwise.)

I can't say the same for the stuff they've been cranking out as of late. Gee, I miss Bettie Serveert when they rocked solid. I know bands mature and change their sound ... but, these last few albums put me straight to sleep. PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU GUYS TO GO BACK TO YOUR ROOTS !!

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Although they didn't cross over into the mainstream the way some of their peers did, Holland's Bettie Serveert became significant college radio stars during the '90s with their jangly, sweetly melodic, at times surprisingly muscular guitar pop. The band's sound was familiar, even archetypal, yet with its own distinct flavor that suggested any number of reference points and made exact comparisons elusive. Much of Bettie Serveert's reputation rested on their 1992 debut, Palomine, but they continued...
