Notas editoriales

One of his most solid and consistent albums

Let me start by saying that Beck is one of my favorite artists. I've picked up every record since his lo-fi EPs back in the 90s. That being said, I really think that this album, as a whole, is his most solid. Yes, the singles are catchy, and back in 2005/2006 you couldn't escape that beautifully distorted E-Pro, or the poppy Girl (with its dark, tongue in cheek "what did he just say?" lyrics snuck right in) - but honestly those are my least favorite songs on the album. As a whole, I think this is his only album that doesn't have a major (and sometimes disappointing) departure from the overall groove of the album. The styles change, much like the ever changing composer, but as an album goes, it is very consistent and therefore feels more complete (to me anyway). My favorite highlights are the thumptastic Go It Alone (with Mr Jack White on bass), Scarecrow, Que Onda Guero, Farewell Ride, and Earthquake Weather. I also see this album as a landmark for substance change in Beck as an artist...but maybe that's just me.

iTunes Reviews are WORTHLESS

Please Keep In Mind That iTunes shells out a bit of money to pay people to listen to these albums and in reality, the fans are the ones whom make or break an artist. Guero is AMAZING collection of sassy and juicy tracks by this one man mad scientist named Beck. This is a MUST for any Beck fan well, all his albums are quite EXTRAORDINARY and masterful. This particular creation was produced by the Dust Brothers whom along woth Beck created a sonic landscape of both dancy beats with opnening tracks like E Pro and sad but honest scores, Broken Drum.

Awesome album

I can't believe the previous reviews rated this album so poorly. This album is fantastic. Wonderfully written with great production by the dust brothers. A must have for any Beck fan.

Initially pegged as the voice of a generation when "Loser" turned into a smash crossover success, Beck wound up crystallizing much of the postmodern ruckus inherent in the '90s alternative explosion, but in unexpected ways. Based in the underground anti-folk and noise-rock worlds, Beck encompassed all manner of modern music, drawing in hip-hop, blues, trash rock, pop, soul, lounge music — pretty much any found sound or vinyl dug up from a dusty crate — blurring boundaries and encapsulating...
