15 Songs, 52 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Like many a Mouseketeer from the now-defunct Mickey Mouse Club, Bridgit Mendler’s rise to the spotlight happened with some help from Disney. She starred as a band's lead singer in the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth and played Teddy Duncan in the channel's original series Good Luck Charlie. On her solo debut album, Hello My Name Is…, Mendler co-wrote all the songs. Fans might recognize her voice from her fictitious band Lemonade Mouth, but Mendler’s own music covers a multitude of genres while retaining commercial pop zeal. The opening song here, “Ready or Not,” is a readymade hit in which she infuses hip-hop-styled phrasing over reggae rhythms. She delves deeper into hip-hop pop in the verses of the slightly tougher “Hurricane,” sounding a bit like a tamer Lily Allen (save for soaring melodies in the chorus). Traces of electronica pepper the teenage love song “Rocks at My Window” before “5:15” throws down a soulful R&B-tinged ballad.

Bridgit's got the way of the Hurricane ♪

This album is amazing! Bridgit's debut album is excellent and very mature for a Disney star's debut album. You won't regret buying it. With happy, upbeat songs like "Ready or Not", "Hurricane", and "Rocks At My Window" you also find perfect balance with slower songs like "All I See Is Gold" and "Hold On For Dear Love". Bridgit's music is like a breathe of fresh air in my lungs ♪ and you won't regret buying this album! Every song is amazing, and Bridgit's vocal strength and talent are really show-cased on this album. It's probably the best debut album released by a Disney artist so far! Every song on here was well composed, and written beautifully, even co-written by Bridgit herself! Bridgit is a talented up and coming artist, and you should definately buy this album. It's one of the best albums of 2012! EVERYBODY BUY THIS ALBUM! :D

Teddy Gone Wild

Although many know Bridgit Mendler as Teddy Duncan on Good Luck Charlie, you know the good girl who plays it safe, that all fades away with this album. She dares to be different with this album. With this album, she inches away from the good girl image she gained through Disney Channel and gets a little edgier. We see her experimenting with pop, reggae, R&B and rock music on this album and it turns out well in her favor. Nothing can stop her and I mean nothing. Ready or not, here comes Bridgit Mendler. She will go far and I believe will become big in mainstream pop culture.
