Album Review

Released two years after Fuel's third major-label album, Natural Selection, 2005's The Best of Fuel is a concise chronicle of the post-grunge quartet's brief moment in the sun. All of their charting singles — which primarily appeared on radio charts like Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock — are here with the exception of "Million Miles," the last single pulled from Natural Selection. It's not missed, since the group's biggest hits — namely "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)," "Shimmer," "Bittersweet," "Bad Day," and "Falls on Me" — are all here, which makes this useful for fans of any stripe, since it does an effective job of condensing the highlights from their otherwise spotty albums. That doesn't mean that The Best of Fuel will change anybody's mind about the band — in a way, distilling them to their hits (and then sequencing them in non-chronological order) emphasizes not only that they sounded like a generic rock band, but that they're a bit samey — but for those who liked the quartet, this is the best Fuel album they'll find.

This album holds some of the greatest songs i've ever herd. Fuel is an amazing band, delivering such dejected lyrics in an exhilarating, amped up way is Fuel's expertise. These songs are awsome. "Shimmer" and "Hemmorage" in one album--doesn't get any better than this!!

Great but unfortunate....

This album contains all the songs that made Fuel famous and they're great to listen to. However, it's a shame that all it takes to show their entire career is 11 songs. Usually, Greatest Hits albums are longer and span over 5 albums but Fuel's tensions within the band caused their 3rd album (Natural Selection) to commercially fail and then cause their lead singer Brett to leave the band. Now you have this and it showcases what made the band amazing. It's cool to hear they have Brett back but now he is the only original member. But it will never compare to the line up that resulted in the creatation of these amazing songs.

Where's "Million Miles Away"?

One of the more prominent bands in the new millennium's post-grunge scene, Fuel originally comprised the talents of singer/guitarist Brett Scallions, guitarist Carl Bell, bassist Jeff Abercrombie, and drummer Kevin Miller. The band took shape in Tennessee in 1989, crafting a blend of polished guitars and melodic melancholia, before relocating to Pennsylvania in 1993. While playing gigs on the local nightclub circuit, Fuel made its studio debut with an independently released EP, 1996's Porcelain,...
