Album Review

Connie Stevens' 1962 album The Hank Williams Song Book marked the pop singer's first foray into country music. Her versions of "Jambalaya," "Hey, Good Lookin'," and "Your Cheatin' Heart" can't compare to Williams' renditions but they're not meant to; the pop sweetness she lends to these songs of heartache and betrayal place them in an entirely different context. The Hank Williams Song Book is a surprisingly strong album, one of the more unique releases in Stevens' catalog, and a worthwhile reissue as well.

Just a great tribute!!!!

My Uncle had this on album and he played it for me when I was young. I have searched for years to find it on album, cassette, and even on CD. Connie does a great job with Hank's tunes. A teardrop on a rose is one of my favorite tunes, but the whole album is good. If you like Hank Williams' tunes then this is a must!!!!!!!!
