Great Music! Dazzlingly Fantastic Performance!

Jennifer Higdon's offers fresh hope for the future of contemporary music. She has a knack for finding new life in traditional tonality. The music on this recording is on a par with her popular symphonic works including the Concerto for Orchestra. It is at times lyrical and other times displays a ferocious 'bartokian' savagery. It is also technically very demanding. In this case, Adam Naiman and company have prove themselves fully up to the task, creating a recording that seems always fresh and spontaneous even upon repeated listening. The Piano Trios and String Quartets in this recording have the earmarks of becoming 21st century classics for these forms.
