Album Review

If a radio series, book series, and television series weren't quite enough for you, there's also this, a series of records based on the Douglas Adams-penned Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The biggest problem with all of the above is that none of them is quite the same, and this one is no exception, though it's based most closely on the radio series (though a mix of the cast members from both the radio series and the television series appears on the record). Our hero, Arthur Dent, suddenly finds himself an interstellar hitchhiker after a fleet of Vogon spaceships demolishes the Earth to create an intergalactic expressway. Along the way, he's guided by his friend Ford Prefect and Prefect's copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Along the way, they get shot at and ejected from an airlock, meet up with old friends and enemies, and discover a mythical planet, for starters. It's fairly fast-paced (despite being stretched out over four sides of vinyl), but you never end up feeling lost. The sound effects used for the voices of the mice, which are a bit hard to decipher, are about the only misstep here; otherwise it's a very enjoyable journey. (In-joke spotters' corner: Check out the catalog number of the version of this record originally released on the Original label.)

Hitchhiker's not for all

You will love this movie (and album) or hate it. If you live in a world of uptight everything must make perfect sense then you may want to watch your nephew's 4th birthday party video for the 9th time this month. If you like to have your brain worked out once in awhile and enjoy Monty Python style humor that pokes fun at everything then you will love this.

Not for everyone, but great all the same!

As an avid Hitchhiker's fan, I must say that this is a wonderful companion to a wonderful movie. In response to the two negative comments, I must say this: As stated prior, Hitchhiker's is NOT for everyone. It's very wacky, zany, and sometimes, confusing. If you don't like it, then fine. That's ok. However, for fans of the books, the movie, or both, I would suggest downloading this quite soon. It's very good music, fitting the Hitchhiker universe perfectly. My personal favorite tracks are "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish", "Journey of the Sorcerer", "The Whale", and "Vogon Poetry". Again, I would suggest this to only those who are fans of the source material. And remember, fellow hitchhikers... Don't Panic. :D

oh em gee---this is amazinggg

so long and thanks for all the fish was the HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE. well, close to <3 download it NOW.
