Album Review

Best of Bobby Goldsboro, Vol. 1 of Curb's Bobby Goldsboro collection features some of the lauded tunesmith and former Roy Orbison guitarist's biggest hits, including "Watchin' Scotty Grow," "Honey," and the "Straight Life." Fans looking for a more streamlined package should seek out EMI's Best of Bobby Goldsboro: Honey.

Be careful - these are NOT the original versions

These songs are re-recordings by Bobby Goldsboro of his hits -- they are not the orignal hits versions. You'll be disappointed when the songs don't quite sound like you remember them. Goldboro's voice in these re-recordings is dull, uninspired -- a far cry from the uptempo, lively originals. A half-hearted effort that's not worth even half the 99 cent price.

The Best of Bobby Goldsboro

The Best ? I don't think so. There is one thing I dislike with a passion, and that is re- records. I Can appreciate an artist wanting his music to live on, but if you are looking for the original recordings you will get burned here. Shame on you iTunes. Please indicate "newly recorded material" in your album description. Thank You

I can't speak for most of these songs -- I only wanted "Little Things" -- but after listening to the samples of that and a couple others, it's obvious that these are NOT the original recordings of Goldsboro's hits. You probably don't want 'em anyway -- let's face it, these are some of the cheesiest pollutants in the history of pop music -- but if you're going to download, better to wait until the REAL versions get on iTunes.
