Very nice

The music is sofisticatedd and romantic. Good dance songs too.

Nice to Have These Again...

These recordings come from two Maurice Starr produced albums (Some Things Never Change and A Special Style) that never saw wide distribution. Few musicians and a lot of synth make up most of the backing tracks, but some of the songs are interesting. I bought it as a download, and the quality is far superior to the original LP's (which I still own). The two extra versions of Give A Little Love (Acapella and Piano w/ Vocal) were not on the LP's. and are a nice bonus. But there's also a great track missing (I Once Had A Love) that appeared on early pressings of the "Some Things" album. All that being said, if you love Russell Thompkins Jr.'s great vocals, there are some songs here that with a Thom Bell or Gamble/Huff treatment would have been classics. I'm happy to see (and hear) these sides back in circulation.

Of all their peers, the Stylistics were one of the smoothest and sweetest soul groups of their era. All of their hits were ballads, graced by the soaring falsetto of Russell Thompkins, Jr....
