I love the Spirit Room and Hotel Paper. This is...a whiny album. It sounds whiny. The lyrics are ok, but it's not my cup of tea. She's done what Shinedown, Taylor Swift and many other artists have done - changed their sound to appeal to the attention-deficit generation. At least that's what I'm hearing. Bummer. I wanted to like it Michelle, sorry.


Michelle Branch's "The Spirit Room" and "Hotel Paper" defined my middle/high school years. I lived and breathed her and her thoughtful lyrics... she literally got me through the toughest times when I was young, insecure, anxious, and broken hearted. I am so thrilled she is back and I'm excited her album is listed as alternative! I'm so ready for a mature sound and "Hopeless Romantic" definitely has an awesome vibe!


Change isn't always a good thing. Sting lost me when he turned into a lounge singer, and Michelle will do the same if this is her new direction. Will continue to listen to Spirit Room and The Wreckers instead of this.
