This record is unbelievable. Not since I discovered The Bad Seeds about 5 years ago have I been so captivated by a band. I got Shine A Light by The Constantines a few months back and fell in love with it. This record, in my opinion is even better. It's flippin' ridiculous. I look forward to their new record which is rumored to be out the middle of 08.

Could very well be the alternative album of the year!

This could very well be the alternative album of the year! I’d never heard of The Constantines prior to purchasing this CD. I’m an iTunes music clip surfer. One who picks obscure, little known to myself bands, usually in the genre of alternative music. If I like the sound I will consider purchasing it. Not to say that I haven’t been disappointed before, the clips belying the overall quality of the music, but not with this CD. It is a rare encounter to find an album where all the songs are good, and all the songs just a bit different from the pervious one. The Constantines use a diversity of musical styles to pull of songs that are a Indie\pop\folkish mixture that works. Everything sounds tight. The vocals being coarse and haunting. Having listened to Tournament of Hearts, I’m going to look at their back catalog now.

Fantastic Third Album

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s

The Constantines first rocked their way out of Guelph, Ontario, in 1999, with Bryan Webb and Steve Lambke on vocals and guitar; bassist Dallas Wehrle; keyboardist Will Kidman; and drummer Doug McGregor. By 2001, the quintet had relocated to Toronto and issued their initial, eponymous full-length. The album's raw, moody mix of arty dub-punk with trad rock energy and pop angles was immediately and roundly embraced. The Constantines was nominated for a Best Alternative Album Juno award and topped the...
