EDITORS’ NOTES

This 24-year-old singer/songwriter composed Hourglass with husband Michael Harrison, Emily Lynch (the album’s first single “Volcano”), Ben Rector (“Please Don’t Take Your Love Away,” “Save Me”) and sometimes on her own, pulling ideas from all aspects of her young life. The infectious chorus of “Can’t Help Myself” is an easy draw. The way she curls the notes in “The Oak Tree” adds a particular sweetness to her tone. It’s a pretty way of singing that’s never over the top but in keeping with the sentiment. Producer Chad Copelin (Green River Ordinance) keeps the arrangements colorful without getting too busy or dense on the ears.
