This debut by Boston-based My So-Called Friend features 10 radio-ready songs packed with punchy power chords, bright vocals and soaring harmonies all polished to a studio sheen. These mostly bouncy tunes — with a couple of ballads thrown in — feature big guitars, crisp drums, chiming keyboards and some good hooks. Standout tracks include the tongue-in-cheek “Date a Model,” “Unpopular,” with its pseudo-disco bridge, and “House Arrest,” a dynamic tune built around the interplay between acoustic and electric guitars.
