Best album by Wayne krantz

Howie 61 is the best album of wk of his career. Ever since I have listened to Wayne he has continued to stand out from ever other great player. He has a unique sense of individuality and his concept of writing intelligent Tunes is so apparent on this wonderful album. The guitar playing is fantastic on this record , yet he transcends the instrument . 5 stars

Respectfully Disagree

I respectfully disagree with the direction Wayne is going with this. I am a big fan, especially of his more aggressive music (War Torn Johnny, Whippersnapper, Greenwich Mean, Riff); I also enjoy some of his mellower instrumental tracks (Dream Called Love, Earth From Above), and even his foray into vocals (I Was Like, Holy Joe). I have the upmost respect for Wayne, but personally this album lacks excitement. I hope it is successful because he deserves it, but I feel like the more mainstream vibe here (less visceral, more laidback, vocals on almost every tune, sax & piano), while possibly an attempt to reach more listeners, is still not going to attract mainstream "Steely Dan" success, yet will alienate some of his hard core fusion fanbase (like me!). Hope I'm wrong. -Brooks

Wayne's " Kind Of Blue " recording.

I'm giving this five stars because I had a little bit of a preview of this great disc via MP3s. Overall, don't expect another " Two Drink Minimum " style recording. This disc is a little slower and more in depth Wayne has ever produced. It has singing but the lyrics reflect personal growth from the music and for Wayne in particualr. A nice groove oriented style of music. A cross of Jazz and Beat style poetry, a great effort from Wayne and crew.
